Step 2—Certification Examination
 

    Upon completion of the Exam Preparation Course (EPC), The LEARN^® Institute submits Candidates for Certification to the AALC. An examination fee of $110 is paid to The American Association of LifeStyle Counselors (AALC), who then administers the appropriate LifeStyle Counselor Certification Examination to the Candidate. Each Candidate for Certification will have two weeks in which to complete the self-administered Certification Examination. Candidates may retake the LifeStyle Counselor Certification Examination as many times as needed in order to obtain the required 80 percent or higher passing score. All aspects of the Certification Examination are administered by the AALC.

    Candidates who successfully pass the LifeStyle Counselor Certification Examination are issued a one-year Provisional Certification and become Provisional Members in the American Association of LifeStyle Counselors. Provisional Members may then use the designation of Certified LifeStyle Counselor^® (CLC) during this one-year period. In order to maintain status as a CLC, Provisional Members must complete the final step in the certification process—the Applied Practicum Training Course (APTC) through The LEARN Institute. After Provisional Members complete the APTC, the AALC will upgrade the members’ status to Fellow Member and issue a new Fellow Certification. All Provisional Members MUST complete the APTC within one year of the issuance of the members’ Provisional Certification.

Certifications Offered
    The LEARN Institute provides the prerequisite training programs for the following two certifications offered by The American Association of LifeStyle Counselors:
