APTC Description
     The final step in the certification process is becoming a Fellow Member of the AALC.  Provisional Members are elgible to complete The LEARN^® Institute’s Applied Practicum Training Course (APTC). The APTC focuses on the application of the weight and/or stress management knowledge and skills in the lifestyle counseling setting. During this two-day classroom training session, Provisional Members have the opportunity to interact with faculty members using multiple teaching methodologies, including case studies, client assessment, animated computerized presentations, role playing, problem solving, and many other lifestyle counseling activities. Each training modality is designed to help make learning in the APTC fun, entertaining, memorable, and simulates actual lifestyle counseling sessions.

    The APTC is held at scheduled times at The LEARN Institute's training centre in Dallas, Texas. To optimaze the hands-on learning experience, ATPC are scheduled to have a minimum of six program participants. Tentative dates are scheduled but may change do to course enrollment and other factors. Additional courses will be offered to accommodate participants’ needs. Participants should register for the APTC and confirm the dates before making travel plans, including airline reservations. This course can be made available in other geographical areas, depending upon attendance. The APTC also qualifies for the AALC’s required continuing education units (CEU) credit.
